Get the world’s finest chocolate at any time for only one dollar! The chorus students are starting up the annual fundraiser: selling 60 exquisite chocolate bars. This will be going on for three weeks. Buying is not hard because, all you have to do is look for a student carrying a blue and white box in the halls or in classrooms.
Some students like Ariel Joseph looks forward to the benefits the fundraiser offers at the end. “I just do it to pay for dues and dresses,”she says. All the money goes towards upgrading chorus attire and adding something towards the class, such as a trip. “Being prepared to sell anywhere you go,” is Ariel’s idea for making sure her chocolate is sold. To her this is definitely time consuming. “The almonds take forever to go away because it is the least favorite chocolate bar in the box.”
Then there are those students who are more elated about selling chocolate. Anna King has her own system to selling. “I usually sit and pull out the box of chocolates and they all come running. My mom is a teacher so before school I go around and ask old teachers if they want to buy. Also, I just post on Snapchat that I have chocolates”. Anna says the least popular flavor is “between dark chocolate and almond, but mostly almond,”so make sure you buy yours quick! Anna has her head in the game with this. While Ariel would spend her money going shopping, Anna’s goal is to save up enough for a caribbean cruise.
Some chorus students are just getting used to the fundraiser process. Sanai Parker says it was “rough in the beginning”, but it did not take long to start going by smoothly. She says the best part about it is the fact that they are able to sell something common that people can actually enjoy. “People like chocolate, so they buy it.” For those just starting chorus this would definitely be a challenge. As the days go on, however, it becomes easier and boxes go by quickly.
Carmel has been selling out fast, so make sure you buy them when you see a chorus member. Do not worry if someone runs out of chocolate though, each member gets a new box when they run out. Do not just keep this delight for yourself. Disseminate the chocolate love to your other friends, family, and co-workers.
