Houston had a lot of fans in the world. Senior, Melvin Yvon, was definitely a fan of hers. He stated, “Definitely, the way she both vocally and emotionally delivered her music has always been fascinating to me. I don’t think anybody else had the ability to do that like she did.” In Houston's life, she was filled with many battles that caused her death, especially addiction. Yvon, thinks her death could have been prevented if she had the right people around her. He stated, “It’s hard to tell if her passing could’ve been prevented. I think her addiction could’ve easily been prevented if she had the right people around her. But her death? She was so deep in that darkness that it was probably inevitable.” Hillgrove student, Jalicia Norman, thinks no matter what she has been through, she left a big legacy. She stated, “Her music of course will be the biggest most important part of her legacy. I also think that her life outside of being just Whitney Houston like being a mother to Bobby Christina and a mentor to artists like Brandy Norwood and Monica. I just think that she will always be remembered no matter what.” Senior, Jasani Byrd, feels that Houston inspired her. She said, “Her music has inspired me to always be the light in someone else's life.” She later on and said, “She brought unity to this world and she made music that everyone could enjoy.”. Byrd thinks the world loved Houston, even through her battles. She stated, “I think people liked her so much because of her unforgettable smile and her voice was magnetic and her message of love and happiness was relatable despite our differences.” Houston impacted many people's lives.
Yvon believes that no one can match her vocal abilities. He said, “She was a legend because not one person has managed to touch people musically or vocally like she did.” Even though Houston suffered a terrible death, her legacy and impact on this world will continue forever.
