This years Super Bowl was a great success with the highlight being the Super Bowl halftime show. With an average of 114.4 million viewers, and more than 115 million dollars gambled each year, the Super Bowl itself and the halftime shows are amazing and extravagant. This year’s artist who participated was Justin Timberlake, singing many of his hits such as “Sexy Back”, “Cry Me a River”, and ending his performance with “ Can’t Stop the Feeling”. Although Justin has gotten many mixed reviews for his show, many artists such as “24K Magic” singer Bruno Mars enjoyed it and even began to make suggestions for 2019 Super Bowl’s halftime show. When he found out about the Super Bowl being held in Atlanta, Georgia next year, he took to twitter tweeting to the NFL account that, “You have the opportunity to celebrate incredible Hip Hop Artist from Atlanta Next year, Outkast. T.I Gucci, Lil Jon, Jeezy, Jermaine Dupri just to name a few. It would be the best party TV has ever seen!”
The NFL has yet to respond to Bruno Mars’ suggestion, but many have already expressed it as a great idea. Jaliyah, a student at Hillgrove, believes it would bring a new perspective in the music as, “ they will bring a southern swag..,We don't do the same thing as New York rappers do, so maybe they will bring like something cool that relates to those in the south.” With each area comes a different style, as well as with each artist within that style. Atlanta offers many talented artists who have what it takes to represent Georgia in the Pop music industry. Monique Ubani says, “They will bring hype, like it will be lit! Since it will be here in Atlanta, I feel like it’s a good idea to feature Atlanta artists because it will be supportive...I want to see T.I. and Usher.” With a whole year to prepare for next year’s Halftime Show, many are hoping to see Atlanta artists have their chance to prove the greatness the south has, and show others a different side of pop like none other.
