The Atlanta Braves, who started out as the Boston red stockings, were created in the 1870s and are now one of the 30 major-league teams. After struggling through some rookie seasons, they won three championships in 1995, 1957, and 1914. Since their kick off in 1871, they won 17 divisional titles, 17 National League pennants, and three World Series championships. The Dodgers began in 1883 in Brooklyn, New York. They have won the World Series six times in 1935, 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981, and 1988. The two popular teams will go head to head Thursday, October 4th, and ending on October 8th. Some baseball fans are starting to get heated.
Quincy Griggs is a big baseball fan and was excited to see the series between the Braves and the Dodgers. “The braves are in a rebuilding year and they were not expected to win their division. I am rooting for the Braves because they are the underdogs and have passed all expectations this year.” Even though he is a Texas Rangers fan, he is still loyal to the Braves.“I live in the town that they represent. Plus they are the only professional team in the city that is winning.” Freddie Freeman, the first baseman, would be his favorite player because of his team leadership. Even with his team being the Braves he honestly believes the Dodgers would win.
Roman Lemny goes either way with baseball. “I would watch it after seeing the Jackie Robinson movie.” Like Quincy, he was rooting for the Braves. “If they win, there might be a parade.” The Braves have more credibility to him not just because they are a good team. “I’ve heard the most about the Braves probably because I live in their hometown.” Roman has seen them advertised in many places. “Honestly, I’ve seen them in coupon books at Viva Mexico, Waffle House, and on shirts.” During the game the best he could say they did was with them running fast. He did not see any flaws in the team’s performance. Unfortunately he has gotten some unwanted comments about going for the Braves. “Some people say that I’m going for them just because I live in their hometown and not necessarily because they are good.” Being honest with himself, he believes the Dodgers will take the final win. “The Dodgers are a pretty good team as well. It’s not like they’re just a bad team.”
Serenity Whells may be an athletic person, but she is not a baseball fan. Her knowledge about the Braves and Dodgers is low since she does not keep up with any baseball teams. She would say the Braves will win the final round. “ I will say Braves because that’s who my dad is going for and he is a true baseball fan.”
The Dodgers ended up winning the final game, six-two. The next game for the Dodgers is October 12th against the Brewers. The Braves are still bouncing back from their loss. Whether your team lost or won, getting together to watch a baseball game is a nice bonding time with whoever. Even if you are watching it for the first time and do not know what is going on, it would be a great time to learn.
