Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is a family sitcom which ran from 1990-1996 about a teenage boy by the name of Will from West Philadelphia who was sent to live with his Aunt Vivian and his Uncle Phil in Los Angeles, California. Will was sent by his mother after getting into a fight with some thugs. His mother wanted him to have a good life and she thought he could not achieve that with living in Philadelphia.
On September 10th it was announced that Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was going to have a reunion. On November 19th, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion was released. Many people were very much excited about this reunion. Many people felt that this would be a good way to bring everyone together and go through a nostalgic ride. 16-year-old Layla Marcus states, “I think having a reunion for the show is a good idea and I think it is a nice way for the cast to reconnect with one another. I also think it’s good for the people who grew up watching the show.”
Many people who grew up watching the show or just watched the show in general have been wondering as to why the original Aunt Vivian known as Janet Hubert left the show. When the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion was released they brought up a feud between Will Smith and Janet Hubert which led onto why she left. Janet Hubert was pregnant during the third season of the show and her parents did not accept that. There were other personal things happening in her life as well which then affected her and how she was on set which was why she left. She was then replaced by Daphne Reid to play as Aunt Vivian. Even though Daphne was a good replacement to play as Aunt Vivian it was not the same as having Janet Hubert. 15-year-old Marie Roberts states, “I think it was a good idea for her to leave because at the time she was kind of going through a lot so I thought it was nice for her to just kind of take a break and fix the problems going on within her life and leave the show.”
There are a lot of people who feel connected to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air show and some people feel that it had somewhat of an impact in their life and made them realize things. So, it is only right to have a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion so then the audience can feel reconnected to the cast and to the show once again. The show has reached people in so many ways and made people laugh and that is why it is so iconic and so relatable. Ciatta Gibson a 15-year-old explains, “To me the show means that family is important and through the thick and thin your family will truly have your back. It also means to me that you should always set a good path for yourself and your life.”
