Food at Home vs Food on the Block
by Angelina Hardy
Most teens or young adults share the common memory of asking their parents if they can eat Wendy's or McDonald's on the way home and most of the time the answer is no, we have food at home. Sometimes food at home is always tasty or maybe they just want something else to eat. The majority of people go out to eat because they want something different to eat or to meet up with loved ones.
The most important thing is to fill your body with protein and nutrients. Which means adding eggs, chicken breast, and oats to your meal daily. According to Sergino Hardy, A nurse at Long Island Jewish Hospital “I Eat mixed greens, chicken and fish.” Including vegetables, fruit, dairy, and oats in your meal plans helps your body get the energy it needs and prevent sickness from happening. Everyone needs nine essential amino acids; Amino acids are “building blocks” of protein.
There are many types of foods to eat for instance, A 4.3 restaurant in Powder Springs, Ga that serves Mexican food is called Mi Mexico Mexican Restaurant, Also a 4.3 restaurant is Juci Jerk that serves Jamaican food in Marietta, Ga.The benefit of eating out is you can consume the food you desire the most and fulfill your appetite. The reason why most people choose to go out to eat is because they get to eat the food they do not get to cook at home, just like the teacher at Dowell elementary, Priscilla Snipes, she stated “I love all different types of food... I love international food, Caribbean, Soul food, and Italian.” Another reason is most of the time people go out to eat is to socialize with friends, family members, loved ones, and even business partners.
However, cooking can go both ways either it comes out tasting delightful or tasting disgusting and a high chance of getting food poisoning, to prevent that from happening Sergino Hardy, continued “To know your meat is good, you need to look at the color of it.” Not just cooking from home but restaurants can also give a person food poisoning. According to a student at Hillgrove High School, Danielle M “If a restaurant that does not cook their food right or the food is contaminated which can lead to food poisoning.” A good idea is to check your food before you eat it meaning to take a small bite of the food to make sure it tastes right.
Consequently, the next time you want to cook or eat out make sure your meal has enough protein and nutrients, and is cooked right, and also tastes pleasant. The benefits of eating out is that you get to try things you have never heard of before and socialize with the people you care about or love. So, the next time your parents say no, “we have food at home” reply by saying “it is good to get out once and a while and to try something new”, forget about food poisoning and the food at home.
