After We Collided

The movie After We Collided is the sequel to the movie After. The movie came into theaters on Friday October 23, 2020. After We Collided picks up a little bit after the first movie ends; with Hardin Scoot, played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin, sitting in his car alone. The movie keeps many of the original cast such as Tessa, played by Josephine Langford and Molly, played by Inanna Sarkis. This movie shows a toxic relationship between Hardin and Tessa. Where Hardin has a drinking problem and many family issues while Tessa is the perfect girl next door. Throughout the movie you can see both characters grow and learn new things about life while still trying to hold on to somethings from the past.
Addison Black, sophomore from Hillgrove High School says, “ I liked the first movie better but this one wasn’t bad. It was just kind of all over the place.” In the movie world many people find that the second or third movies are never as good as the first. According to Addison, “My favorite person was definitely Tessa in this movie just because she has grown up so much since the first movie. She went from like 12 to 25.” Tessa shows growth in her character not just in the way she dresses, but also in her becoming more independent from the life her mother and ex-boyfriend planned out for her.
Sofie Alonzo sophomore at Hillgrove high school said, “ I love this one my favorite twist was bring back the homeless man from the beginning giving him a possible main character role.” In the first scene of the movie showed the homeless man asking for someone, and then at the end she sees him and knows it is her dad. Sofie also says, “ I think it was a unique choice for them to have such different father-like roles in Hardin and Tessa’s life. It was something to think about when there were duller moments in the movie.” Hardin's father was there but he was abusive to his mother and was emotionally draining. He was a toxic man and ripped the family apart. Tessa's father left when she was young and they never give you much more than that.
Lea Wallace, my mom, says, “I didn't watch the first one so I was lost with some of the original plot lines from the movie. The movie was really good though.” A lot of things with this movie was knowing what happened in the first movie. Many of the scenes had something to tie it back to the first movie. When they went to the college party they played truth or dare; this was the main point from the first movie. When they played in the first movie Hardin was dared to make Tessa fall in love with him and Molly told her the truth after she fell. In this movie Tessa started the game to trade personal blows with Molly.
The movie did horrible with critics getting only 10% rotten tomatoes. The movie also has made $42.3 million at the box office. The movie takes many turns that leaves you wondering what is next. The movie did end in a cliffhanger, so there will probably be a third movie coming out.
