The Fetal Heartbeat

The current state law allows abortions up to the 20th week of pregnancy, but most people think that is all about to change with a new bill. Governor Brian Kemp has until May 12th to sign or veto Georgia’s Fetal Heartbeat Abortion Bill. This bill is controversial to some, because the bill would ban abortions after six weeks or when a fetal heartbeat is detected. This bill was passed by Georgia lawmakers last week, now it is up to governor Brian Kemp.
When Gracie Proux of Villa Rica, Georgia, was asked how she felt about this bill she stated, “Very pleased with it, because it goes along with my religious beliefs and makes me feel glad people won’t be able to kill innocent babies.” When Gracie was asked what were her religious beliefs she explained, “I’m a Christian and believe completely in the commandment that you shouldn’t murder. Abortion is murdering an innocent child.”
When Elvie Sanders of Dallas, Georgia, was asked how she feels about abortion she replied with, “I am 100% against abortion. Even if the lady is raped she should still have the baby and could put it up for adoption.” When Elvie was asked one explanation for it she stated, “Honestly their really is none. Just a lady trying to get out of taking care of a child. It’s murder!”
When 16 year old Summer Smith, was asked how does abortion make her feel she said, “Abortion makes me feel sick.” When Summer was asked how would you describe it in one word she said, “Murder. I don’t agree with it either.”
Abortion is split down the middle. Some people say it is the woman's choice and then others say it is killing an innocent baby. A few other states are jumping on board with banning abortion. Mississippi and Kentucky already signed an abortion bill, while Tennessee, South Carolina, Ohio and Florida are considering similar abortion bills.
With the Georgia’s Fetal Heartbeat Abortion Bill changes will be made. Women will no longer be allowed to have an abortion after 6 weeks or a heartbeat is detected. Women will then have to have the baby, keep the baby or give it up for adoption.
