Finishing the School Year Strong

Spring break has just ended and now the last six weeks of school are here. With only a few weeks left to finish everything off, students are preparing themselves. Some have AP Exams, others EOCs, and mostly everybody has finals. Many must study, present, and take exhausting tests, but it will all be worth it when school is out. Hillgrove seniors are also looking forward to May 23rd, the day they graduate from high school.
Hillgrove Junior, Michelle Hboubati, said, “I’m mostly studying. I got a lot of sleep during spring break, so I plan to really just push through and try not to be as lazy. Because it’s the last 6 weeks, so you really gotta buckle down. [For the summer] I’ll probably go down to Florida. I’m taking a summer class so that I can graduate early, and I plan to watch a lot of The Office.”
Hboubati continued to say, “[The hardest part about studying is] probably focusing. When it’s too quiet I can’t focus, so I’ll put music or The Office on. I would say take breaks because most people try to do it all at once. Maybe study then watch your favorite show, like an episode, and then go back to it.”
Another Hillgrove Junior, Gabrielle Jones, commented, “My goals for the next six weeks are to just keep my grades up and finish out the year. Grades [motivate me to study] and just thinking about college in the future. Cause like if I don’t study for this test I won’t care in this moment, but two weeks later when my grade drops I’m gonna wish I studied.”
Jones also said, “AP Psychology [has been my favorite class to take]. I’m taking it now and I really really like the class. It’s a lot of fun and I love all the activities.”
Hillgrove sophomore, Isaac Vazquez, commented, “I just wanna make it through the end and keep my grades up, that’s pretty much it. I’m just studying for my finals in Honors Lit. I review a lot of notes, it involves coffee and tears. [To become a better student] study, work hard, focus, and be polite to your teachers.”
Vazquez continued to say, “Students take on way too much. They take AP classes, every club ever, sports, driving, and jobs. I personally just try finding different ways to take time for this and time for that. I always like giving myself time to relax and maybe meditate or listen to relaxing music because if I don’t I get overstressed. It’s not good.”
The school year is kind of like a marathon, and now the finish line is in sight. As said above, so many students are keeping their eyes on the prize by setting goals and finding ways to reach them. Finish the year strong Hawks!
