2020 Election

   Elections are a very important event in the U.S. They determine many things like congress, senators, the president, and many more roles in the government. The presidential election will be held on Tuesday,  November 3rd, 2020. Voting is a way to represent one’s opinions and have a say in what takes place in their government. The presidential election is one election that affects the futures and lives of the citizens and is very important. 

    With a new president in the future comes many changes like new perspectives and new authority figures. Kaylan Parkes thinks, “There are a lot of serious things going on around the world and the country at the moment, I  personally would like more investment and commitment towards spreading the word about global warming.” The government needs to be more open to listen to the people's needs and ideas, there are many things that the president and the other figures in government focus on, but making sure the people of the country feel heard is very important. Lots of people have many different views on the government. Some people may feel that having a new candidate in the office is positive and some may think it is negative. Walker Martin says, “ I think it can be both negative and positive because it depends on who gets elected, but a more positive outlook is that, that person can bring new ideas to help the U.S.” No candidate will fulfill everyone's needs but it is best to try to look at everything with some positivity.

   Voting is so important for the people to voice their opinions and give a little input for what they think is best for the country. Ryan Thwaites states, “It's important because you’re apart of this country, you’re a citizen, and you have the right to voice your opinion, so you should.” Voting is a simple way to express your opinion. It can better help the country, help affect and change the future of the country for the better.

    The election may be months away but there are many debates and point being made already.  If of age, voting is so beneficial and it is a right as a citizen that should be used to help create a good change. There are many opinions and sides, therefore people will always disagree when it comes to politics, but that does not change how important this event that happens every four years is.
